The written Torah is really a condensed version of our oral law comprised of the Mishnah, Gemara, and the Midrash. Without this set of notes the Torah cannot be understood. What are Tefillin, what is Matzah, and how do we slaughter meat kosher? The oral law raises several significant questions, and among them are:
• Is this a game of telephone? How do we know it’s accurate?
• If it is accurate, how do arguments arise and how do we know who’s right?
• If it’s the oral law, why is it written, and if it can be written, why was it oral?
• What’s the difference between the Mishnah, Talmud, and Midrash?
Find out the answers to these questions and more; and bring your own.
